John Dramani Mahama after finishing his undergraduate studies, Mahama taught history at a secondary school for a few years. He then worked in various roles, including as a communications officer at the Embassy of Japan and as a manager at an anti-poverty NGO.In 1996, the Ghanaian Parliament elected him to represent the Bole/Bamboi Constituency. Throughout the years, he held positions such as Deputy Minister and Minister of Communications, and actively participated in various international organizations and committees.
In 2009, Mahama became the Vice-President of Ghana, and later assumed the role of President in 2012 following the death of his predecessor.The National Democratic Congress elected him as their presidential candidate in 2012, and he emerged victorious in the general election.
